Bruce Lundquist
Hometown: Born in Portland, Oregon, but was drug kicking and screaming to sunny Arizona in the early 1960’s. I grew up in Mesa, AZ and have no plans on moving back to Oregon.
Spouse: Married to the best wife possible whose name is Dixie
Offspring: Adam (18) and Caleb (14)
Occupation: Formerly System Support Engineer for DHL. Worked there for eight years and was planning on retiring there, but the economy took a nose dive and I was laid off June 26, 2009, am currently unemployed.
Loyalties (sports team): Not really into sports, but will go see Chandler High School football because Caleb is in ROTC there on the drill team.
Education: B.S. from ASU (fortunately not U of A). Also a part of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship where I first grew in my faith.
On my nightstand: Light and alarm. No books. When I go to bed that’s it.
Influences: John Piper. Also, the elders at Faith Church. Their example and like-mindedness has really stirred me to a better walk with Christ.
On my DVR: Not sure what you’re asking. There’s nothing on my DVR. We keep DVD’s in a drawer. Also, there is NO DUST!
Favorite Ice Cream: Angel Sweet super dark chocolate. Although, any ice cream is good as long as it isn’t some strange flavor like pickles or super hot jalapeno ice cream. Who would want that????
Favorite Restaurant: Denny’s. Have been eating there once a week at 5 AM for years. I would rather eat at home where Dixie’s cooking is far superior, but I meet with my accountability partner, and anyway she wouldn’t get up that early to make me breakfast.
Favorite Book (other than the bible): Battling Unbelief by John Piper. Are you surprised?
Favorite Sports: Golf. Haven’t played for a long time because of the extra walking to find the ball which never went straight.
Favorite Band/ Music Genre: MercyMe/Contemporary Christian. Praise music especially. When I’m in a car by myself look out. I’ll belt out a song at the top of my lungs when it’s praise music.
What I always wanted to be when I grow up: Orthopedic Surgeon, but I had to settle for Surgical Technologist because they wouldn’t let me in medical school.
Don’t ask me to…: Go snorkeling. I did it on a cruise to the Bahamas and swallowed so much sea water the cruise ship was starting to scrape the sea bottom. I was never so sick in my life. Never again.
